The Evans Gallery and Framing
proudly presents
Since the age of 5, Lucy Collings has drawn scenes from her natural surroundings.
As a child growing up in South Africa, she enjoyed drawing and painting the horses
on her family's farm. Today she is inspired by the mountains where she lives, skis,
and hikes.
 |
Lucy enjoys painting "on location" and uses the family van as a traveling studio.
She often drives to out-of-the-way places where she spends hours painting by the side
of a quiet road. Lucy finds that she especially enjoys these paintings because
they remind her of that particular scene with its weather, bird alls and other
interesting activity. She finishes these paintings in her studio after they have
had a chance to dry and she has had time to view them from a distance and decide
what further work is needed.

 |
After high school, Lucy studied Fine Art for two years before going on to complete
a degree in Geology. Fifteen years later, she picked up her brush once again.
"I realized how much I needed to do something permanent; something that couldn't be
undone the next day the way that so many things are."
|
Lucy is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian artists and an active
member of the West Vancouver Sketch Club. Her work appears on greeting cards
produced by Blueridge Studios.
