Tawny tigers and sleek leopards cast cool, appraising eyes over the studio of Kindrie Grove. "I have a love for the big cats. I think it is just their grace and form and their coats, especially some of the exotic cats with their striping and spotting. I find it so interesting painting a spotted or striped form."
A unique feature of Kindrie's work lies in the background of each painting. She often places her wildlife against stone relief sculptures that look like they might have come from ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. An interesting contrast is created between the stylized stone forms and the lifelike beasts.
Kindrie has visited South Africa with her husband, Andy, and spent time sketching
wildlife in various game parks. They are both deeply concerned about environmental
issues, particularly endangered species. Kindrie donates a portion of each sale to
environmental causes.
